This impressive tree from Madagascar is the largest among the baobabs and is now highly threatened in its existence by the further encroachment of agriculture. The tree can be planted outside in a warm climate or kept inside as a houseplant or bonsai in a temperate climate.
In winter, the tree will hibernate and lose its leaves. Throughout this period, little water has to be given to the plant. You can regularly water the plant throughout the rest of the year. The ground must be well drained and the baobab likes to be in a sunny spot.
Soak seeds for 24 hours in lukewarm water. Sow them in sowing soil and keep the temperature between 25 and 30 degrees of Celsius. Keep the soil moist constantly.
