Soursop / Guanábana
The soursop, guanábana or graviola is a fruit that is cultivated widely for consumption in many tropical countries. In Europe, the fruit is known for among others ‘Appelsientje Mango en Guanábana” (a trademark from FrieslandCampina). In nature, it’s a small tree which grows up to 4 meters high and can be kept as a container plant in a temperate climate, with a minimum temperature of 5 degrees Celsius. The fruits can be up to 30 cm wide and usually have a weight of 6 kg. They are green, have small, soft spines and white flesh that tastes sour. In Indonesia, the fruit is sometimes called the Dutch Durian (Durian balando/belanda), because the Dutch would find the fruit more delicious in comparison to the real, stinking Durian.
First soak seeds for 48 hours in lukewarm water. Sow them in sowing mix and keep the soil constantly moist. Let them germinate around 25-30 degC.
