Common name:
Candlebark Gum

Southeastern Australia

This Eucalyptus species is called the Candlebark Gum, because the bark does not come directly from the tree when it dies off, so that the trunk gets a battered appearance. This is similar to a burning candle. The yellow-white and grey trunk has orange-red stripes during the summer, making it quite graceful.
It is a species with origins in Southeast Tasmania, and can nowadays be found in many places in southeastern Australia. The species is hardy.
