This Euphorbia is characterized by a central caudex from which a wide variety of branches are produced. Therefore, the plant is the reminiscent of Medusa's head (caput-medusae). 

The plant is native to Cape Town, where it grows along the rocky coast in sandy soils. Around the year 1700, the plant was brought to the Netherlands. The species is one of the first plants that Linnaeus described.

Germination instructions:
Sow the seeds in a mix of sowing mix and river sand (2:1) and let them germinate at around 25 degC.
