Common name:
Yellow Gloriosa lily

South Africa

The gloriosa lily is a small perennial climber (max. 2 meters) with - graceful, lemon-yellow flowers. The species is native to South Africa, but is now cultivated worldwide for its unusual flowers. The plant grows from a tuber and dies in fall from above the ground.

During winter, it is best that you dig up the tuber and let it overwinter at a cool place. At the end of the winter you can put it in the soil again, so it will quickly grow again.

Germination instructions:
First soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24/48 hours. Then sow them in sowing mix at a depth of about 1 cm. Keep the soil constantly moist and put the whole on a bright and warm spot.

Sowing time:
December - July
