Product description

The leaves of the curry tree are used in the Indian kitchen to make curries. When the leaves are dried they lose most of their taste, so they can best be eaten fresh from the tree. It is an easy plant to grow indoors, and you will always have fresh curry leaves available. The leaves can be cooked with the curry sauce, and can be taken from the sauce before serving (just like laurel). Because it is a tropical tree that originates in southern India, it needs to be grown indoors in temperate climates. A well drained soil (for example cocopeat) is recommended, as well as a light stand. Spray the plant regularly with water.

Sowing description: The seeds have a very short viability, and need to be planted as soon as possible. Sow the seeds in sowing mix, keep the soil constantly moist and let the seeds germinate in a warm spot.

Family: Rutaceae
Scientific name: Murraya koenigii
Common name: Curry tree
Native to: South India

Sowing time: Whole year
Difficulty: Easy
Minimum temperature: 15 degrees Celsius

Mid juni 5 zaden ontvangen.

Sowed the fresh seeds the same day I received them. Received 6 seeds in the packet and 4 germinated successfully within 2 weeks. I am very happy :)

I received my order in May 2021 after being in wait list for the entire fall and winter of 2020. The seeds arrived a bit damaged but I sowed them anyways. I sent a picture of the seeds to the customer service expressing my concerns over their viability. In the second week of June, I received a set of fresh berries free of charge. That was really sweet of the folks at onszaden. I extracted the seeds from the berries and planted them right away. In 2 weeks time, they all germinated beautifully. Now keeping my fingers crossed and waiting for the baby plants to grow. Thank you, Onszaden for the exceptional customer service and quality of berries.
