This species is a very rare passion flower from the tropical mountain forests of Ecuador and Peru. The pink flowers are about 6 cm in size and hang from long flower stalks that are covered with hairs. The edible green passion fruits are 5 cm in size and have yellow pulp. The species can in temperate climates be grown as a container plant with a minimum temperature of 5 degC. A sheltered stand against a wall or fence is recommended. Be careful with too much direct sunlight in the middle of a hot summer day.
Soak the seeds for 24-48 hours in orange- or lemonjuice, then sow them in sowing mix. Keep the soil constantly moist, cover with plastic foil or glass and let the seeds germinate in a warm and bright spot indoors.
